Who’s in charge here?

Who owns what in the Apparel Industry?

Fit = Garment Engineers
Aesthetics = Design
Product Development = PD, Raw Materials,
Assortment Planning, Sales, Customer = Merchandising
Commercialization = Supply Chain

At many companies, none of this is written in a job description or an org chart.

If it is, it is vague, blurry, and is the cause of most of the waste in our industry.

Where does the buck stop? Who has the final say? Who decides when the changes end?

We’ve all heard stories of production halted to accommodate a change “from above”.

If there is no blueprint for the ownership of the product at any given stage in the development process, who is to say “No”?

The dog will continue to chase its tail and the waste in time, materials, human energy & profits will continue to pile up.

Audit your company/brand. Does it have clear lines of authority?

If not, you have some work to do. And I can help.
