Yes, I’m a nerd

I’ve always been on the tech side of apparel design.

My father is a retired Civil Engineer. I'm pretty sure I got it from him.

I was not one of those kids who made clothing for my Barbies. I didn’t doodle dresses in the margins of my notebooks.

I got a degree Fashion Design to avoid Calculus.

I always raised my hand when IT needed guinea pigs for the new platform they were hawking. I want to say that other designers were looking a little sideways at me…and not in a good way. Or maybe I imagined it.

I was definitely in the minority, but I always saw technology as a way to give me more time to be creative. So I embraced it.

I am technology agnostic. I love and hate things about each and every platform I try and use. I have Pro/Con lists for all of them.

There is not enough time in the world for me to learn all of the software I want to, but I refuse to be a generalist. I want to be able to speak to the specifics of apparel technology and you can only do that if you have your hands in the software.

The weeds is where all of the action is 😉

Do you have a software you want to learn, but just don't have the time or money?
